New Addition - Marshall Class 5 Combo

WoooHoooo! This little amp rocks my world! This really is something worth writing home about. I cant believe how cool this amp sounds. Massive Marshall tone in a 5 watt box.

The Marshall Class 5 is Marshall's entry into the low watt Class A valve amp craze. I bought the little VOX AC4TV a few months ago and love it to bits. This Marshall is even better. It delivers amazing and real Marshall tone. The box houses 2 ECC83 and 1 EL84 valves, a custom Celestion G10 driver and some very basic controls. With the volume turned up to 3 or so, you get a stunning Marshall sparkle. Instant Paradise City and with the gained turned up you get full balls to the walls Marshall overdrive. Amazing when used in the right places. The Class 5 is a very classy looking number. With black tolex and gold piping it has a genuine boutique feel about it. Made in the UK and not in China, this little Marshall is an expensive but worth while purchase. I intend to use it for recording. I also have the TUL G12 mic (Kevin Shirley - Joe Bonamassa) So pair the two together, sit back and enjoy amazing, huge, kick you in the face Marshall overdrive tone.

Class 5 controls are basic - Volume controls the gain with basic LOW, MID and HI tone control.
There are a couple of gripes. I cant and wont use Marshall tone for everything. Its just too distinctive for that. So the VOX handles just about everything else. Also, the amp only runs in 5 watt mode. No lower watt selectors. Which becomes a little impossible to practice with the gain up. It really is very loud. Law suit loud, if you catch my drift. So the addition of a Master volume would be welcome. There are mods available for this, but I feel bad drilling a hole in my beautiful new amp.

A very classy looking number. Vintage styling with UK built quality.

The Marshall Class 5 is a classic. It has its little faults but every time I look at it my heart melts. Its just so damn gorgeous looking. And the sound that comes out of it triggers either instant tears or instant erections. The Class 5 is an amazing little amp. For pure UK made Marshall tone in a portable, affordable box. Look no further.

Cool video of a dude in a Warehouse playing the Class 5 at full volume. The shop that did the video is in my home town of Guildford Surrey in the UK. Haha! Think I know that metal head. Small world.

Couldn't resist a Joe Bonamassa post. Here he is launching the Class 5. The amp in question was used in the recording of Joe's albums. It says so in the CD cover.
